Nice article. It is very important to remember speed and technique, generate power. All too often people try to "muscle" their punch. It does not matter how big your biceps are. Get in your school and train. It takes time and practice. www.sparksmartialarts.com

Punching effectively is very important and most people think all you do is swing your fist around but thats not correct. A 5'1 and 110 pound guy gound throw a punch stronger then someone 2x as big. Thats only if his stance and technique is correct.

A punch does not start with your arms but instead with your feet. To get 100% of your punching power you need to start by pushing off and forward with your feet, then twisting your hips and finally use the motion of twisting your hips and put it into your shoulders then again use your shoulders motion to shoot out your punch.

Like the masters say "be like the river" Let the power from when you first push off with your feet flow all the way to your fist. This might not fully explain how to throw a correct puch but if you inderstand then it is enough. All you have to do now is practice.

Once you get use to letting the power flow from your feet all the way to your fist then thats when you will realize how to speed up you punches. The better you can let your power flow the faster you can punch.

If you throw a haymaker you will lose balance and it will slow your punch down because you can't withdraw your fist as fast. If you train and get your punching form right then you will not have to use all your strength to throw a powerful punch.

Remember let your power flow from your feet to your fist. Your legs are alot stronger then your arms so if you only rely on your arms to punch you will not have a oowerful punch. So by using your leg strength instead of only your arm you will loose balance less and withdraw your punches faster and the faster you withdraw the more punches you can throw.

Well thats all i have to say for now, sorry if my explanation isn't right or too confusing but i get what i mean so it's ok lol. Well Check out my Self Defense Videos and blog if your interested in martial art.
